Connection Timed Out when Opening Automan — How to Fix It

Troubleshooting Updated

A “Connection timed out” message means your device couldn’t reach the server — the connection died on the road. It’s not the app breaking and not your data disappearing. Because the cause can sit in your device, your network, or your ISP’s internet route, the fastest diagnosis is a checking order that starts closest to you.

Checking order

  1. Check the device’s internet. Open one or two other sites. If everything is slow or failing, the problem is your connection — not Automan.
  2. Try another network. Switch to a phone hotspot on a different carrier, then open the Store App again. If it loads fine there, the app is healthy — the issue is the route of the first ISP.
  3. Recognize the ISP-routing case. There is a documented pattern where some users of one carrier group hit trouble on the international route to the server, while users of other carriers sail through. The telltale sign: timeouts only on one specific network.
  4. Use a lightweight VPN as a temporary bridge. For the routing case, Cloudflare’s free 1.1.1.1 app is usually enough — it changes your connection’s route with zero configuration. Switch it on only when needed.
  5. Check server status. If every network fails and the VPN doesn’t help, check Automan’s status page or ask support/community — there may be maintenance or an outage on the server side.

Telling the causes apart quickly

  • Failing on all sites → your internet.
  • Failing only on Automan, only on one network → ISP routing; use step 4.
  • Failing on all networks, only on Automan → server side; use step 5.

If it still won’t load

Note three things before contacting support: the ISP/carrier you’re using, the time it happened, and the results of trying another network. Those three facts cut the diagnosis time in half.
