Back Up before Resets or Big Imports

The problem

An Excel import, a data reset, or a master-data overhaul changes thousands of rows in one stroke. If the result is wrong and there’s no backup, there is no cheap way back.

The tip

Make it a reflex: before any big change, create a fresh backup and note the reason. An old backup isn’t enough — your data has moved on since then.

Practical steps

  1. Open Backup & Restore.
  2. Create a new backup and wait until it’s confirmed complete.
  3. Note the time and reason (“before July product import”).
  4. Only then run the import/reset.

When to use it

Before Excel imports, data resets, initial migration, or any large master-data rework. The cost is a few minutes; the value is your entire shop’s data.
