Your First Minutes: Sign-Up to Ready for Business
Your account is live in under a minute. No queue, no email waiting for approval, nothing to download.
The rest is not waiting — it is you working, and only briefly. Automan asks one question: what kind of shop is this. Six short steps follow, nearly all of them tick-boxes.
Those six steps are the most valuable work in the whole process. From your answer, Automan fills in the fault lists, intake checklists, service list, and product categories itself. A car workshop gets wheel alignment and brakes feel weak. A phone counter gets dead device and SIM trays. Not one generic list reused for everybody.
Skip it, and your shop stands up empty — and filling in hundreds of list entries by hand is the single most common reason people close the tab and go back to a paper book.
This page holds the whole first sitting in one place: sign up, shop created, wizard, done. You do not need to open another tutorial to finish it.
One piece of advice from experience: do not spend your first evening perfecting settings. The shops that settle into Automan fastest are not the ones with the tidiest configuration on day one. They are the ones that recorded a real job soonest.
Before you start
- An email address you can open, or a Google account. That is genuinely all.
Steps
-
Sign up — take the fastest route
The Google button finishes in seconds because there is no new password to invent. Prefer email? Automan sends a six-digit code; open your inbox, copy, paste. No credit card is requested at any point.
-
Name your shop — and it exists immediately
Use the name written on your shop front, because this is what prints on customer receipts. Press save and your Store App stands up in seconds. No queue, no email waiting for approval.
-
The Business Type Wizard opens by itself — this is where the time goes
A new store greets you with one question: what kind of shop is this? Car workshop, motorcycle workshop, phone and computer counter, or general electronics repair. This is the part that takes time, and the only part that genuinely decides anything.
-
Steps 1-2: your shop details, then what you repair
Name, phone, address — all three appear on receipts. Then tick the unit types you accept. Yours not listed? There is an option to add your own. At least one is required before you can continue.
Enter the shop name once; it flows into every document. -
Steps 3-4: service and product catalogues fill themselves
Automan offers brands, fault types, complaints, accessories, and a service list — all pre-ticked, all matched to the units you just picked. A motorcycle workshop never inherits a phone counter list. You only remove what you do not use.
The unit-type catalogue fills itself in.
The service list is ready before you type anything. -
Steps 5-6: receipt rules, then apply
Receipt paper type, who may see cost prices, when the warranty clock starts, and your time zone — do not get the time zone wrong. Finally Automan shows a summary of what it is about to create. Tick that you have reviewed it, apply, wait a few seconds.
Receipt rules are settled before the first transaction. -
Done. Now record one real job
Your shop is stocked with the right lists and ready to use. Stop reading — take something genuinely on your bench right now and record it as your first job. One real transaction teaches more than ten pages of documentation.
Done — now log one real repair.
What you end up with
Your account is live, your Store App exists, and its catalogues match your trade — unit types, brands, complaints, accessories, services, product categories, and receipt rules. The shop is ready for its first transaction.
If something goes wrong
The email verification code never arrived
Check your spam or promotions folder first — that is where it usually lands. If it is genuinely missing, sign up again with the Google button; that route needs no code at all.
The wizard did not appear after my shop was created
It opens by itself while setup has never been completed. If you closed it by accident, reopen it from Settings. If it still does not appear, setup has most likely already run — check the repair menu, where the catalogues are usually already filled.
I do not know my business type answer yet
Pick the closest one and move on. Every seeded list is only a ticked recommendation — you may clear all of it and replace it with your own, at any time.
This feels too fast — surely I am missing something
You are missing plenty, and that is deliberate. This first sitting only gets you to the point of recording transactions. Staff accounts, WhatsApp, promotions, accounting, and advanced settings each have their own tutorial — do those as you go, not tonight.
I am not ready to decide on a paid plan
You do not have to. The Lite plan is free with no expiry date. Moving to Pro only makes sense once the daily transaction limits start getting in your way.
